Our services are simply fee-based: We do not sell financial products for a commission. Our guiding philosophy is that there should be no inherent conflict of interest or hidden compensation in the objective advice we provide. We seek to create a safe place for our clients to discuss their goals and to always avoid conflict of interests that invariably arise with a commission-based approach.
As a Registered Investment Adviser practice, we utilize powerful and sophisticated tools, technology and independent, as well as research. Consequently, our clients benefit from having an advisor with the same credentials they can find at larger companies; yet because we are independent, we can respond to our clients’ needs promptly and with personal attention.

Gene Ka, CPWA®
Gene has more than 27 years of experience in, and extensive knowledge of, financial planning, asset management and estate planning. Gene was a Senior Financial Advisor with American Express Financial Advisors from 1990 to 1996. He left American Express to form Ka, Demmler & Associates, an independent financial advisory firm in Campbell, California. In the spring of 2000, Ka, Demmler & Associates became Wealth Design, LLC.
Gene’s approach to client services stems from his background in hospitality. He cares about helping people, asks thought-provoking questions, and is a great listener. A detailed strategist and a tireless implementer, Gene is a strong advocate for complete transparency when working with Wealth Design’s clients.
Gene is a Certified Private Wealth Advisor® and has extensive experience in the wealth management content, strategies, and applied concepts that help better serve high-net-worth clients. Gene attended Purdue University and is a proud member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Gene lives in Silver Creek with his wife, one of his three daughters, and his mother. Gene’s middle daughter attends Pepperdine University, and his eldest daughter attends NYU Law School.

We take the protection of your assets very seriously. For that reason, we have chosen TD Ameritrade as our custodian, a leading provider of comprehensive brokerage and custody services. We want to make you aware of the measures TD Ameritrade takes to safeguard your accounts and your information:
Certificates of Deposit (CDs) purchased through TD Ameritrade are issued by banks insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). In addition, cash in your account can be held in a TD Ameritrade FDIC Insured Deposit Account (IDA). Balances in an IDA are held at TD Bank, N.A. and/or TD Bank USA, N.A., where they are insured by the FDIC against bank failure for up to $250,000 per depositor, per bank. TD Bank, N.A. and TD Bank USA, N.A. are affiliates of TD Ameritrade.
Each bank will have separate FDIC coverage of up to $250,000 per depositor for up to $500,000 total per IDA depositor.

Additionally, TD Ameritrade provides each client $149.5 million worth of protection for securities and $2 million of protection for cash through supplemental coverage provided by London insurers. In the event of a brokerage insolvency, a client may receive amounts due for the trustee in bankruptcy and then SIPC. Supplemental coverage is paid out after the trustee and SIPC payouts and under such coverage each client is limited to a combined return of $152 million from a trustee, SIPC, and London insurers. The TD Ameritrade supplemental coverage has an aggregate limit of $500 million over all customers. The policy provides coverage following brokerage insolvency and does not protect against loss in market value of the securities.
